ZWIB's mission is: Celebrate WOMEN! Support and empower them to deal with everyday corporate challenges. Provide a forum for women to share their experiences with others. ZWIB is driven by their motto: Redefining the Role of Women.
ZWIB's officers are all current Zicklin students. They are: Arielle Ngai (MS, Accountancy), President; Shaheena Lokhandwala (MBA, Finance & CIS) Executive VP; Tina Dong (Honors MBA, Accounting/Finance) VP of Finance; Severine Perrin (MBA, HR Management) VP of External Relations; Moheeta Tamrakar (MBA, International Business) VP of Marketing; Mariya Manashirov (MS Accountancy) VP of Digital Marketing; Sweta Merchant (MBA, Finance) VP of Communications; Hetal Assar (MBA, Finance); Shaazia Patla (MBA Marketing & Finance) VP of Events.
At ZWIB’s 2nd Annual International Woman’s Day Luncheon “Equal Rights Equal Opportunities: What Matters More – Degree or Experience”, the guest emcee was NY1 Anchor, Baruch alum Ruschell Boone, who shared her unique experience of moving from being an Accounting major at Baruch to a news reporter at NY1. The panelists were Diane Wallace (Deloitte), Angela Spencer-James (EY), Eileen Finn (EFA), Segolene Prot (Thomas Reuters), Susan Ganz (FWA), Linda Zhang (KPMG)
To answer the central question: what matters more – degree or experience, it was unanimously agreed that a degree is required to get a foot in the door, but experience is really what matters for long term sustainability and this experience becomes more important with each passing year. Although few women hold top positions in organizations, this can be changed through hard work, and positive and assertive attitude.
