When I began my internship at MD Global Partners, a boutique investment bank in New York, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I knew I wanted hands-on experience in investment banking, but what I’ve gained from this opportunity has gone far beyond technical skills. One of the most important things I’ve learned is how to connect the dots. Investment banking isn’t just about analyzing financial statements or building models— it’s about understanding the story behind the numbers. I learned how to research a company’s debt structure and stock movement and then ask the right questions : Why did the stock jump at a certain point? Was it because of a merger? A new product?
