From NYC to Corporate Tax at The Walt Disney Company in Florida: Sadhami Caraza’s (MS Information Systems, Data Analytics ’26) Journey

Sadhami Caraza has a Bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in Economics. In 2026, she completed her Master’s in Information Systems with a concentration in Data Analytics at Baruch College, transitioning recently from New York City to a corporate tax role at The Walt Disney Company in Orlando, FL, where she works on tax matters related to Disney+ and Hulu.

What Really Motivated Her to Pursue This Opportunity at The Walt Disney Company

Disney has always been one of Sadhami’s favorite companies, and she has closely followed the opportunities the company offers. When she came across the internship opportunity for recent graduates in Corporate Tax at The Walt Disney Company, it immediately caught her attention.

The role was not just about traditional tax work. It also involved data management, process improvement, and working with different systems. That combination stood out to her and motivated her to apply.

With a strong foundation in finance, and growing interest in how data and technology can improve financial processes from her master’s program, she saw the role as a perfect fit. The opportunity to work on data automation, Excel-based processes, and operational improvements felt like the exact combination she had been building toward. Being able to apply those skills at a company like Disney made the opportunity even more exciting, and the application process moved forward quickly.

Leaving New York City

The transition was not an easy decision for her personally. “I have built my life in the City, school, friends, family and so it felt like stepping out of my comfort zone, but at the same time, I saw it as an opportunity for growth,” she shared.

Professionally, this role at The Walt Disney Company allowed her to break into a field that connects her background in business and data analytics. On a personal level, the move strengthened her adaptability. It pushed her to become more independent, open to change, and confident when facing new situations. Leaving a familiar environment ultimately helped her grow as she adjusted to both a new city and a new corporate setting.

Advice and Reflections on Starting the Role at The Walt Disney Company

“I wish someone had told me that it’s okay not to know everything right from the start,” Sadhami said. Starting a new job, especially in corporate tax, comes with a steep learning curve, and it can feel overwhelming at first. Over time, she learned that asking questions, staying proactive, and being organized make a significant difference.

Looking back, she noted that if she could change anything, it would be spending a bit more time researching corporate tax before starting, just to feel more confident. However, she emphasized that most of her learning came through the job itself, and that hands-on experience played a key role in her growth.

She also offered this advice for others: “Don’t limit yourself. It can feel scary to leave a place like New York, but there are so many opportunities outside of New York that can help you grow both professionally and personally. Trust your skills. You have built a strong foundation at Baruch; you are more prepared than you think.”

Sadhami’s transition from New York City to a corporate tax role at The Walt Disney Company in Florida highlights a major step outside her comfort zone and into a new stage of growth. Moving away from a familiar environment pushed her to become more independent, adaptable, and confident in navigating both a new city and a new career path. Her experience shows that transitions, while challenging, can lead to meaningful personal and professional development when embraced with openness and a willingness to learn.
